This was a purely explorative project, I was working on changing a shape by darting and seeing what emerged.   I made the first cut and kept going five more times.   Finally the shape emerged, the initial form reminded me of a pop-tart, childhood breakfasts that bring a smile to my soul. As I continued to shape it, it reminded me more of a shell, the light being the hidden treasure inside.  I added the punched holes by sight, following the curve of the piece, same goes for the glaze.  It was the first time that I used single glazes without layering.

Hand Built speckled buff clay, five glazes, fired to Cone 6 in home kiln. Dimensions: 20” x 13” x 10 1/2”
